        REPORT
On Sunday 25 June the LEVAS match fishing fraternity descended on Phase Three of Makins Fishery, where Championship Match Five, also for the H Mountney Memorial Trophy, was fished over three lakes, Derwent, Thames and Severn.
Good weather and a good breakfast got the day off to a decent start, and, although these lakes are always a challenge, the weight were quite reasonable with all three lakes providing an angler within the top four.
John Adamson (Severn peg 24) made use of a good peg to win the match with 84-04. John alternated between method feeder and pole/paste at 8m to accumulate a catch of bream and small carp throughout the day.
Steve Hoult (Derwent peg 2) continued his sparkling form to fall just short but take second place with 81-08 of carp. Steve fished hard banded pellet for his mainly carp catch.
Paul Richardson (Severn peg 14) fished a superb match to take third place overall with 79-00 from a relatively unfancied peg. Paul also alternated between method feeder and pole, taking some big carp in the latter stages from his margins, but found he had to keep switching baits to get bites, using mainly double corn, worms, and bunches of maggots.
The next three weights all came from Thames. Dave Cotterill secured fourth place overall (and topped Thames) from peg 13 with 55-00, followed by Brian Leafe (peg 2) with 52-11, and Paul Skinner (peg 9) with 50-07.
The next match is on 2 July at Beechwood Park on Kingfisher Lake, and will be a joint match with Soldiers & Sailors (Sawley) Angling Club.
