REPORT
LEVAS Championship Match 8, also for the Richardson Cup, was fished on Grange Pond, and was the first substantial match held on the Lake since the recent redevelopment and stocking programme commenced last year.
Although the fish were not used to the large number of anglers around the lake, the results were encouraging, and there were plenty of fish caught.
Rob Pembridge’s “practice” when he filled second place in the previous week’s Thursday evening match on the venue paid off, as he went one better to record a win with a weight of 43-10. Fishing peg 27, Rob had three early fish totalling around 10-00 on the feeder fished to the island, before switching to pellet waggler for the remainder of his catch which consisted of carp to around 6-00 in weight.
In second place was Bill Peach from peg 26 with 27-02, all falling to the method feeder fished to the island with banded pellet on the hook. Alan Welch was third with 19-12 from peg 28, Malc Munn in fourth with 18-02 from corner peg 30, which included a magnificent common carp of around 10 lbs taken from the edge.
Next week’s match (a Joint affair with Soldiers & Sailors) will be on the Big Lake at Hacketts. followed by the “Annual Outing” on Sunday 30 July which will be fished on the Big Pool at Blythe.
