REPORT
LEVAS Club Water, Grange Pond (Long Eaton), was the venue for Championship match 13 which was also for the W Hardy Memorial Trophy, and in spite of the poor conditions the lake fished quite well.
Dave Cotterill continued his decent form with yet another win. Fishing peg 3 with bomb, then feeder and later pole with banded pellet, he made all methods work for his impressive 60-14 winning weight which included a lovely common carp of 16-06 (photographed).
On peg 28, Mick Lager fished pellet waggler all day to put 11 carp in his net for second place with 50-14, finishing well ahead of third placed Alan Welch, who on peg 22 weighed in 23-00 consisting of 5 carp taken on a feeder fished to the island.
Les Smedley was fourth with 20-02 taken on pole and pellet from peg 5, followed by fifth placed Rob Pembridge who had a four carp catch (two on pole/paste and two on pellet waggler), sixth was Steve Talbot with 6-08 from peg 20, with Malc Munn in seventh with a 4-01 carp from peg 26 (losing 4 other carp in the island snags).
Rob Pembridge landed a pike of around 5-00 (which didn’t count) and lost another – both took paste, and Steve Talbot also lost a pike. The pike anglers will be pleased to hear of this activity.
Next match is at Beechwood Park on the Kingfisher Lake on Sunday 7 October, for the A Fletcher Memorial Trophy.
