Number of pegs: 12 (Paid Top Four)Report:
Anglers had to contend with a strong and gusting wind but all caught fish and there was another close result where a single fish would have completely altered the top four.Derbyshire angler Robert Edlin, on his fist visit to the venue, drew peg A20 and made no mistake by catching steadily throughout the day, and in spite of losing several fish managed to put 56-14 on the scales to win (the 80th time that peg has produced the winning weight in 527 Wednesday Opens on the Lake).
Second place was taken by the in form Richard Reeve with 52-00 from peg B21, mainly fish taken on pole and paste from the margins, just ahead of jointly placed third anglers, Bob Greenbury (peg A11 who caught a few fish on bomb and pellet before switching to pole short for the remainder of his catch) and John Adamson (peg A8, who caught 7 carp and 2 “skimmers” on method feeder baited with meat and pellet).
The next three weights, Simon Patmore (B11) with 36-10, Shaun Greenfield (B17) with 30-07, and Jeff Robertshaw (B14) with 30-06 were all taken from the margins.

Report:
On a damp and very windy day all three lakes fished quite evenly with each of the top three on different lakes, as was each of the second three, giving an excellent spread. With the exception of the winner, the remaining prize winners were potentially split by a single seven pound fish!Steve Haywood continued his relentless form with yet another win. Drawing Reptile peg 9, Steve caught a few fish from various areas before they settled into his margins from which he caught steadily for the remainder of the match to amass 102-15 for a clear win.
On Snake peg 16, Daz Walters started the match well with several decent carp caught by fishing long to his left, then he struggled throughout the middle period before the fish returned in the last half hour when he added several more to end with 67-02 and second place overall plus the lake win.
Kev Walters (Daz’s brother) on Crater peg 4 took third place with 61-05 to win his lake, just enough to beat Paul Reynolds’s 60-11 from Crater peg 1, who ended up in fourth and second on the lake. Both caught on pellet, mainly from their margins.
Sean Huggins filled the fifth spot with 60-04 from Reptile peg 2 to take second place on his lake, again pellet fished in the margins doing most damage, this time from his right margin, with cabin visitor John Patmore the final prize winner with 60-02 from Snake peg 1, which he caught mainly on pellet fished short in the deeper water.
NB. ‘Nisa Feeders’ Opens are at Makins on Phase 2 or 3 on every Thursday, 8:30 am draw in Café on Phase 1 Car Park. Just turn up and book in 5 minutes before draw.
