Fish a rod with a light all through action.

This acts like a shock absorber in the same way the elastic does.

as said, soft, through actioned rod, good reel with a good drag.

I use a garbo super picker, 10ft. Its really soft, you can pull the tip to the butt. Are you using QM1 hooks???

Use a bigger hook and have the drag set soft. Only lift the rod to a 90 degree angle when the fish is ready for netting.

                      Use a 15g feeder.

I find this is generally caused by the feeder sliding up and down the line and when it hits the quick stop causes the hooklegth to go slack for a split second and a hook pull results. This is exaggerated by a stiffer action rod for obvious reasons. Also the right hook plays a part QM1’s are about the best for method feeder fishing. It not a problem always unique to inline though, F1 carp are notoriously difficult to land, longer the rod the worse they are, so a longer net handle say 3m is needed when used used in conjunction with say a 13 ft rod.
So as suggested keep the rod at a vertical angle right until the last minute before netting to minimise the bounce of the feeder, longer landing net handle, the shortest rod, softest rod you can get away with, try QM1 hooks and lift and net asap, under the water if possible. 🙂

agree with most of whats said for me most important things are those [expensive from a previos post] brilliant qm1s

Thanks for your thoughts on this.i agree that it is the feeder bouncing that causes the problem.heaver the feeder worse the problem is.i will give the qm1 a try.never seem to have the problem when playing the bigger fish.i would say the smaller ones thrash around more.all food for thought!!

Are you tieing a 2 or 3 inch loop on the end of your mainline for the feeder to slide over? N sure it makes a difference to loosing fish but I do it for added strength and don’t have much of a problem with lost fish and I always use at least a 30G feeder, anything lighter is too light! I do tend to catch bigger fish though! 😀
