TF_MICK THE BOOKIESunday the 27th of March.
22 fished Top Lake.1ST…PEG 19..Joey Clarke….63lbs.
2ND…PEG 18..Mick Fitzpatrick….54lbs.
3RD…PEG 2..Mick the Bookie…..53lb 4oz.
SECTION 1….Sponge Bob……43lbs.
SECTION 2….Bob Xxxxxxx…..53lbs.Have to say the famous Top Lake fished much better than we thought. After losing so many fish last year, and having a break from matches,it appears the Lake may be recovering. Most pegs had fish and the lads seemed happy. The fish seemed fit,and many 8-12lb fish were caught on Feeder,Pole and Wag.
Lets hope next week the League kicks off with a similar start, with the first of its 8 matches booked on the Willinghurst venue.~clap ~clap ~clap ~clap -

TF_PikeyMick – The lake isn’t recovering, there are fish in there cos they put them all in from New Lake but they are all still swimming about in a load of silt. It won’t start to fish again until it is desilted. The weights quite often look ok but 63lb probably isn’t many fish in 6 hours fishing and a lot of them usually come down the edge (where there isn’t any silt) in the last few hours.
Well done on third place by the way – it must have been a right dodgy days fishing as Herbie was 2nd at Bowsaw.

TF_MICK THE BOOKIEDave……Thanks for your reply. There was a bit of a debate after the match at the cabin, and also in the boozer(the usual suspects)later, and there was a mixed opinion on the topic of the state of the fish caught and from whence they came. All agreed that the fish “caught” were in superb condition, but there was much conjecture on their previous home.I among others do think that the majority of the fish in the lake are origanal inhabitants. In fact some of us dont even know for sure where the “new additions” were from.I am guessing that you,Ross, and Don would know exactly, and would like your input on this question, and perhaps some rough figures on counts.
Many congrats to our Herbie on his 2nd spot at Bowsaw. But as all the lads at Willy said about my 3rd place at Willy……..”IT MUST HAVE BEEN SOLID”….And believe me it was.I had 5 fish early doors, but was then biteless for 2 hours.I then made a massive error in fishing to the right by the tree(against all advice),and smashed my 4th section on a fish which took its dive to safety. My top 3 is still stuck in there(Paul is retrieving it today for me),which obviously curtailed the use of my pole. However i did manage to catch 3 more fish from the bush on the left with my margin pole, but as per i lost 3 fish taking me into the main lake which ultimately cost me dear….A better angler would have, and should have won from the peg, which in no doubt will win many of the matches that are on the lake.
How did you do Sunday, and who won it?…..Don?..lol. -

TF_PikeyMick – It sounds like you fcuked up a peg that was solid then ! LOL
You’ve always got to fish down to the right in Peg 2 cos sometimes loads of fish live there- I once had 18 carp there and only a few elsewhere in the peg, then the next time I never had a bite by the tree. I fish it with my margin pole so it can’t be that far away.
Hathers won our MFS match at Bowsaw with 159lb, Herbie second with 77lb – I had 48lb and fished like you usually do – like a Muppett !
If you are on the Molesey League, I might see you next week if there is an open at Willinghurst – you can show me your rigs or your latest secret bait.
ps ALL the fish that were netted from New Lake went into top – but all they have done is move fish from one silted up lake where they were hard to catch, into another silty lake where they will be hard to catch.

TF_toplightsFirst time out for me in the last year.I’m certainly not going for the quality of ths fishing as i know its going to be humpty.Pikey you know why most of us go to Willy these days(its a special group) and the Molsey league is special to me personnaly. As an aside,i was on peg 25 on the spit and had six carp for 29lb.Can you start you’r winter league after the Molesey league finishes,so we can get it over with before the winter?LOL.~think ~clap ~clap
