        FISHERY REPORT

MOLANDS If the weather could not get any worse with the heavy rain and cold winds to contend with, it is not helping the fishing improve much. Nets to around 70lb were best in the matches and pleasure anglers have reported similar catches, made up mainly of carp and F1s. Carp to just under 20lb were caught along with F1s to 9lb, tench to 6lb and bream to 4lb. Best tactics have been meat or corn fished short or down the margins over micros pellets or ground bait, bomb with 8mm pellets fished down the middle or tight up to the island and caster shallow on the pole. Best pegs have been 2 – 4, 10, 12, 21, 29, 41 – 48 and 56 – 60.

GEARYS Still fishing quite hard for the time of year and some warm weather is badly needed to get the fish moving and feeding. Carp to 19lb 4oz have been reported by carp anglers on krill/squid or strawberry boilies and catches of up to ten doubles have been caught. In the matches, bomb with 8mm pellet or long pole with 6mm pellet have accounted to around 90lb and were the best this week. The high bank from pegs 7 – 13 has been the most consistent area.

LITTLE GEARYS At the start of the week weights to 180lb were caught in the Guru Festival but as the week went on and the weather turned wetter and cooler the fishing got generally worse. The top tactic was caster fished shallow on the pole at 14 metres but meat or worm fished short or down the edges was also worth a try. The best area was on pegs 5 – 15 on the far side.

GRATUITIES Match weights to 50lb were best in the week with carp from 2 – 4lb and the odd double figure fish making up the bigger catches. Corn, meat or pellet fished along the banks or on the corner pegs was the best tactic. Decent net of silver fish coming to caster or soft pellet on the pole.

ANNIVERSARIES A few carp into double figures have been caught this week but the main part of the catches was made up with F1s from 8oz – 4lb. Pellet shallow or on the bottom, corn and maggot have all accounted for catches exceeding 50lb this week. Best areas have been pegs 1 – 6, 10 and 17 – 23.

WILLOW Fished ok with F1s and carp from 2 – 5lb making up the better catches. Pole fished pellet shallow, feeder to the island or close in down the margins have all worked well this week.

SIBLINGS A Showing a lot more consistency of late with carp, F1s, ide and skimmers being caught from most areas. Pole fished caster shallow or on the deck, pellet, corn and meat have all worked this week with nets to 80lb.

SIBLINGS B Fishing has been good as any of the pools with lots of F1s and the odd carp being caught in nets to over 100lb. Meat, pellet or maggot either fished long out to the far bank or short at five metres the top tactics. On the wider pegs, a small method to the bank is working.
