MOLANDS Pleasure catches to over 40lb and match weights to over 30lb caught this week. Carp to 8lb and tench are starting to figure well in catches but it is the skimmers and F1’s that are providing the best action. Pole at 10 – 13 metres with caster or expander pellet on then hook has been the best tactic but the pellet feeder fished to the island with pellet or meat on the hook has also been going well. The best areas have been from pegs 1 – 4, 17 – 21, 29, 42 – 48 and 52 – 60.
GEARYS The milder weather has seen an improvement in sport on Gearys with skimmers, tench and carp showing around the pool. The high bank from pegs 9 – 15 is the top area for nets of skimmers coming to pellet fished over ground bait or micros. The carp are coming to the method with dead red maggot or pellet the best baits with fish to 10lb from pegs 31 – 36.
LITTLE GEARYS Fish being caught all around the pool with F1’s, skimmers, roach and crucians in nets to 30lb. The feeder has been working well with a small ground bait feeder or pellet feeder fished tight up to the island with dead maggot, pellet or polony on the hook. Pole and pellet is also catching plenty of fish, best at 10 – 12 metres.
GRATUITIES The hot pegs are 1, 8, 9, 11 and 16 where carp to 6lb, tench to 5lb, crucians and skimmers are making up nets to over 40lb. Pole fished along the margins with pellet or caster is working best on these pegs. On the other areas a feeder up to the island is the best approach.
ANNIVERSARIES Tench have been showing well in the milder conditions with chopped worm and caster or pellet taking fish to 5lb with plenty of fish in the 1½ – 2 ½lb bracket. The carp are being caught on the pegs 1 – 3, 9 and 22 by the overhanging bushes with lots of fish in the ½lb – 2lb range coming out along with the odd double figure specimen.
WILLOW Willow has been very popular this week with most pegs providing mixed catches of carp, F1’s, skimmers and roach with float fished caster, pellet or maggot all catching at the moment. Peg 4 round to peg 9 are fishing well.
CRESCENT/REEDY BAY/AND FIRST BAY These small pools have been fished a lot this week with half term holiday and the children have enjoyed good sport on maggot or pellet with carp, roach and skimmers being caught on all of these pools.
