MOLANDS In good form for both match and pleasure anglers with match weights to over 150lb and carp caught to 24lb 8oz with quite a few over 20lb recorded this week. In the matches method feeder fished tight to the island has been the top tactic with meat, small expander or wafter on the hook. Edge tactics are working well later in the day with big carp and F1s coming from the margins and corn, pellet or worm have been the better baits. A few have caught shallow on pellet or caster long on the pole. Carp anglers are catching well with double corn or boilies fished tight to the near margin.
GEARYS The low pressure at the weekend saw the fishing really improve and catches to 200lb were caught on Saturday’s Open. The carp have been high in the water and shallow tactics such as mugging or slapping have accounted for the better catches. Method feeder to the middle stumps and bomb with pellet have also been working well. Skimmer nets to 50lb have been caught fishing maggot over ground bait down the margins.
LITTLE GEARYS In incredible form over the last week with many 200lb+ catches topped by the 294lb lake record catch by Andy Christie in the Bank Holiday Monday’s Open. Like most of the big weights shallow caster was the way Andy caught, catching F1s to 6lb and the odd carp. Method feeder with meat and pole with caster/meat or corn down the edges also worked well this week.
GRATUITIES Carp to double figures were caught with surface or shallow tactics by pleasure anglers. In the matches mixed nets were needed to frame with carp, F1s and skimmers making up the nets to 50lb. Waggler with pellet, pole fished meat or expander pellet and feeder with meat to the island were the top tactics.
ANNIVERSARIES Steady sport through the week with nets to 50lb from plenty of pegs. Caster, maggot or hard pellet on the pole and bomb/ waggler with 6mm pellet has been the best approach.
SIBLINGS A Carp to 12lb, F1s to 6lb and skimmers have been showing around the pool but pegs 13 – 21 have been the better area. Pole fished corn or pellet fished across to the island or down the margins and feeding micros on ground bait are the better tactics.
SIBLINGS B A little slower this week with nets to around 60lb best. Caster or maggot shallow, pellet or corn on the deck at six metres or down the margins have accounted for the better catches.
WILLOW In decent form this week with some nice carp to 15lb coming to surface tactics with dog biscuit or bread the better baits. Worm or corn fishing down the margins also producing the better sized carp. F1s to 6lb are coming to shallow caster pellet.
