PACKINGTON SOMERS FISHERYREPORT
MOLANDS Restocked last week with carp from 1 – 7lb and this has boosted catches with nets to over 100lb in matches and by pleasure anglers. During the week F1’s and skimmers were also showing well all around the pool but the cold easterly breezes put sport down at the weekend. The top tactic has been pole and expander pellet fished long at 10 – 13 metres or feeder with pellet or corn fished down the far shelf about 3 metres short of the island. Best pegs 2 – 10, 21 – 27, 46 – 48 and 52 – 60.
GEARYS Another pool that was restocked last week with carp in the 2 – 6lb range and like Molands, sport was hectic through the week but harder at the weekend. The high bank has been the best area with pegs 6 – 15 all producing carp with skimmers to 3lb also showing. Pole with pellet or corn has been the best tactic but method feeder also worth a try.
LITTLE GEARYS Fished a lot harder this week with catches to 20lb best as the F1’s have switched off. The prolonged cooler weather has affected sport but fish are still being caught all around the pool with the deeper water on the far side from pegs 7 – 13 slightly better than other areas. Pole with caster or expander pellet is the top tactic at the moment.
GRATUITIES The ends of the pool on pegs 1, 8, 9, 15 and 16 have all been fishing well with pole and pellet working for carp from 1 – 5lb, tench to 4lb, crucians and skimmers with nets to 40lb caught this week.
ANNIVERSARIES The top end of the pool on pegs 1 and 6 has been the most consistent area with 9, 11, 17 and 22 also fishing well. Small carp up to 2lb and skimmers have provided the bulk of the action but the odd carp into double figures also showing. Caster, maggot or pellet over ground bait has been the best tactic.
CRESCENT/WILLOW/REEDY BAY/AND FIRST BAY These small pools have offered good sport with carp, F1’s crucians, skimmers and even the odd chub coming to float fished pellet or corn.
