TF_StewartThe SPRO pellet waggler rods take some beating, they cost around £100 they are 11′ 4” power pellet and pellet waggler. Or the new Milo 11′ and 12′ Premiership power pellet wagglers are really good at under £70. class rods!

TF_squattAt 13ft Daiwa, Shimano, Drennan, Garbolino etc. all make a good 13ft match wagg rod.

TF_JohnHThe Shaky mach3 are very good pellet wag rods they are about £70 so wont break the bank. I would not dismiss using 13 foot rods as some others have, you can use a lighter float to fish the same distance and line lick up on the strike is so much quicker. As carp are definately wising up the 13 footer just gives you more options. I accept they take a bit longer to land fish close in if you have not mastered how to do it but you have to get a hook in one first.
I fished with Giles for charity and he says PW style fishing is all wrong, fish it how we used to fish the wag on rivers using 14 foot rods if necessary was his advice using standard waglers. -

TF_Fred DavisGiles has always advocated using insert wagglers for pellet wag fishing for carp as he feels you loose out on some fish that feel the float and eject the bait, before the chunky pellet wag floats we used the drennan brown self cocking striaght plastic floats which were also great for carp to self hook then the puddle chuckers increased self hooking and the pellet wag floats evolved however when the fish are really having it who can argue that the pellet wag ain’t effective I for one wouldn’t

TF_baitchefParticipantWe didnt use the toppers for thier self hooking ability, far from it actually. We used them because we needed to cast quite a distance and be able to present the bait very shallow, often in inches of water, especially when fishing to features. Try using a traditional waggler then, it would stick in the mud.LOL

TF_dave brittainDave should change his name to “Whatsacarp” as he’s caught more skimmers in the last year than carp Micro~sick
Look at the Shakespeare Mach 3 XT, 12ft 2 piece. It’s a superb rod as good as it’s little brother the Mach 3
