hi just need some advice on which pole is the better out the two need a pole that will handle carp and also for fishing rivers and canals, as i already own the gis 91 and have considerable top kits to it i was wondering if anyone owns one of these pole and which is best suited for my style, as fosters have none in stock to try out im a bit stuck thanks

I have the Absolute 14 – it is BRILLIANT. The best pole I have ever had. Super light and stiff. I can’t believe how little press it has had – I couldn’t find anything better.
The sections are strong and robust.
The one was far too heavy for me, though I don’t doubt it is more of a bagging pole.

I have a 91 (great) and a 10 Absolute (much greater). A pal who also had a 91 bought the ONE pole blind and said it was a big mistake. Felt heavy, badly balanced and not at all was he was expecting. He sold it at a big loss and, instead, went for the 12 Absolute which he’s delighted with. No reason to not think that the 14 is even better. BTW – a pal gave me his old Mk1 Maver Deliverence and the match tops (minus no.1’s) are super strong and, on my kithen scales, weigh the same as GIS power tops. Same length and a perfect fit on Prestons. The no.4 also fits and provides a cheap and super strong four when bagging in close. Saves having a completly differnt margin kit set up.

I have The One and it’s been fine for me at 14.5 & 16m. Put it this way i can fish shallow constantly using a catty with no problems. It’s not the lightest pole but it is very strong!

It has a nIce balance for me but there again I do carry a bit of weight so not too many problems on that front for me lol

I have heard the Abs 14 is more for general all round work whereas the One is for bagging and apart from not trying the 14 I can possibly believe that statement.

Depends what you want from a pole tbh

I love mine so there! 😉

its each to there own really aint it ????
jons a big lad so THE ONE is no problem for him,,
im built more like andy kinders little brother, so i went for the gis12 and like jon, im pleased as punch with it,,
that i am aware the gis 14 is very similar to the 12 only lighter !!!!
i must admit though,i was a little unsure of the strength of the 12, atleast i was until i drew 35 on beeches at lindholme last week,, where i had to lower the rig INTO the sticks at 12 meters, and pull like a MOFO with a stiff set 15 h to pull fish clear of danger!!!!
it never missed a beat,,, alot stronger than i actually gave it credit for !!!!
personally, id go for the 14, purely because of my needs as an angler and for comfort when fishing,, but you might find you need something with more power and be built like a brick outdoor wash convenience facility !!!

The One is relatively heavy but it is very very strong and will easily take a 20 elastic. It is very very stiff. Probably the stiffest pole on the market. Out of all the poles i’ve owned the One and Gmax 1000 are the stiffest, with The One being slightly stiffer, but the Gmax is slightly heavier and less well balanced. I’ve held (but not fished with) the GIS 14 and it’s sensational but for me personally would not be strong enough for the fishing i do. Had fish to 16lb using a pulla and 17h, and used 19h fishing long in the margins for munters.
