problems fishing the punch

canal winter league yasterday – i fed a cupful of loose bread at the start of the match, took about a dozen roach then it dried up on me after trying it for a while i refed but it didn’t make any difference so went onto the bloodworm & had a bite nearly every put in but the fish were alot smaller – lad in the next peg doubled my weight all on bread & a lot bigger fish than i was catching – what am i doing wrong

Wet your feed so it sinks. If it burst and makes a pretty pattern on or near the surface it drifts and feeds the next peg.

this comes into play as i found out the other week
mine wasnt as fine as i should of had it
ther finer the feed the less the fish are likly to get filled up
another one how many lines did you have in the past i have had 3 lines set up and soon as one drys up move to the other then the other and keep rotating through the swims

i didn’t wet the feed but i could see it sink straight down in my peg
the bread was riddled through a flour sieve
i could not see what the lad on the next peg was feeding

Try wetting the feed. It does help.

Occasionally fishing but not feeding a pinkie / squatt over the punch can work. Hemp fed in some form with the punch can bring quality fish.
