I have just bought an old rod which has the original slide fitting for the reel. Is it worth my while changing the fitting to a fuji ? This is for feeder fishing on tidal rivers

fuji reel seats r much better than reel fittings your reel will never slip round or even fall off

Just tape the reel on with some electricians tape – sorted.

Bit of a pain and waste of tape doing that every match! I’ve had reel seats put on a couple of old rods but cycle inner tube over the sliding fittings is the next best thing.

I do the rod repairs for a couple of shops, it costs about £13 for the work to change the handle plus about £6 for the reel seat, it normally takes about 3 weeks to do because you have to first strip the old handle to find the diameter of the reel seat needed to order and for the tackle shop to order it,
