Thinkin of upgradin soon to the TDX reels from the TDRs
are they really worth the extra money?

Other then the better line clip on the TDX’s IMO no if you already have TDR’s,

I use the TDR’s and have 3 mates who switched to the TDX two had to send them back with faults ! Both were supplied with new reels no questions asked which might indicate a known problem. Think i would wait another year if i already use the TDR

I bought tdx’s but didn’t have tdrs to upgrade from, the thing that made me spend the money initially was the pop off spools. the line clip is very nice though. The drag is so good on these reels it really helps when you are proper bagging. I have 4 * 2508 models two of each the single and double handle and haven’t had a problem with any.

Rather pay £50 for a full Shimano reel, with spare spool that is a better reel!

The new Shimano EXAGE FC is a very good reel for the money.

The spec read from the original boxes .2508.

TDR. washable, air bail, 5 ball bearings, free extra spool.

TDX. digigear, 7 ball bearings incuding 4 CRBB?
one touch release spool, one touch folding handle, high impact protection line clip(which I have compared and the tdx clip is round and if you look inside the spool is mounted on a spring which makes it give a little when stressed).Free extra spool, gear ratio and line capacity are the same.. reel weights are slightly different TDR 265 gram . TDX 280 gram…….

I have both, and being a tackle tart I prefer to use the TDX ……….
