TF_joffmiester~clap ~clap ~clap ~clap well done ken i know it must of been a hard discussion to make, but i’m sure its the right one and will take the competition forward.your endless work trying to clear the river and often with little help is a credit to you ,as all organisers know its a thankless job.
FURSTON LAKES is a really good move well done ken and angling times i’m sure this will encourage the teams in the semi finals plus the commercial boys might feel they have more of a chance ~clap ~clap ~clap -

TF_NW Cut Angler~clap The right decision and I hope the outcome reflects that. Ken has made a mounumental contribution to match fishing over the decades. Match organising is a thankless task and requires a special breed.

TF_GLEBE1Is there no other river in the country this match could be held on???
One step further towards commies if you ask me

redman71Well done Ken, very hard decision to make but think it is the right one! The Nene has had its day for a number of reasons & with only a handfull of teams actualy competing in the final, I think this will open it up for more teams to stand a chance of an upset against the top teams!
Would also just like echo joffmiester & NW Cut angler thoughts! A big thank you & well done must go to Ken & his team for all the hard work that they have put in over the years & still do! Being the organiser of the old London South east super league I know first hand that its a thankless task! Without Ken & his team the AT winter leagues would of folded years ago! I can only see positives coming from this, a step in the right direction!!

TF_jwbmust admit I would have prefered for the match to stay on a ‘natural’ river rather than a lake. i would have thought another river could have been found that could have held the event. Perhaps the Thames around Oxford or Trent around Nottingham.
Most winter leagues are still fished on rivers and canals and I am not sure that moving the match to a lake will actually be better. But lets wait and see.
I suppose it is probably linked to where they can hold a tackle show like at Peterboro.
At least it has not moved to a commie but could end up a feeder, chuck it as far as you can, match which will not be much of a match to watch.
Still one good thing is that MK is nice and close if we are lucky enough to get through the semi again -

TF_MarcRodgerYes i know but that was a semi final at lindholme neil, which was nice as it was not the other side of the country, and my 2nd home, I just think the final was home to the Nene this is what dreams was made of it was a big tradition in the match fising world like Evesham A SAD DAY. BY BY ROACH…

TF_NW Cut AnglerWhy should finals be held on rivers? It is almost as if some anglers have a real chip on their shoulder that anything but a river is second class fishing.

woodhouseThe decision to move the final has to be made with the good of the competition in mind.
Over the years Ken Wade has been proven to be right with the decisions he has made.

TF_lloydy1970Must have been a hard decision for Ken, hope it doesn’t end up going commercial as that would be the end of my interest in winterleague but Ken has to do what’s best for the competition.

TF_NoCarpPleaseMarcRodger,
I may have misunderstood but ……. Furzton Lake is a town park lake that is controlled by a club (MKAA) …. it’s definitely not a commercial.
There are a few carp, loads of bream, skimmers and roach + plenty of perch.Bloodworm is usually not allowed, but has been in for the internationals held on the venue.

TF_MarcRodgerLooks like a lovely venue, anyway as a ossett angler i do think this would give us a better chance of winning. Im just a bit old-fashione thats all, i will miss the Nene.

23/02/2011 at 8:38 pm #133428
TF_saratogai think this is a good move for the final i have fished furtzon before with bloodworm and its solid with roach.
no one wants to fish a final and have to rake there pegs before they can fish so i think ken as made a good decision to move.
if the nene was not so bad with weed it would still be a excellant venue.
just hope my team gets through to the final this year so we can have a go at the new venue. -

TF_saratogahope so marc we will have a look this sunday to try to find out whats happening, from what i have heard it going to be hard for the majority but we qualified last time when it was rock hard.
it would suit you as i believe it will be 90% perch fishing again. -
23/02/2011 at 8:53 pm #133432
TF_MarcRodgerWould love a skimmer draw.

24/02/2011 at 12:23 am #133462
TF_bully100ParticipantIf the final is going to be on willen lake aswell as furzton you will still need them rakes as it can be very weedy late summer.
