I am comparing a Tubertini series 175 with an 861 hook. I have used the 175 and found them to be OK, but looked at the 861 and it looks a very sharp hook with an in turn and black chrome eyed ideal for hair rigging.
Just wondered if anyone had tried both hooks and knew which is the stronger/reliable hook?~think

The 175’s are superb hooks for fishing the margins and 5 metre line when you are expecting large fish.

Thw 861’s are also fantastic hooks for hair rigging, my only moan would be you can’t use them with Preston Powerline above a 0.17 diameter

Thanks for your replies guys. So the eye is too small red hydro for 0.17 is that on all sizes of hook? I wouldn’t be going any higher than a 14’s tbh. Do they stay sharp? I have tried hooks in the past that are very sharp, but tend to blunt very quickly.

My 2 main summer patterns for the pole, 175’s for meat, corn etc and 861 for banded pellets, shallow and depth.

Ace hooks had no probs with them ~clap ~clap

i can get 0.18 Guru (twice) through the eyes of an 861. you need to cut rather than bite the line.

I do mate, but I can only assume the diameter of powerline is bigger than guru line

861s are good hooks but the point is that sharp it hasnt got any backbone and can go blunt.

                    Not a bagging hook then.
