Hope that you get some space and catch down the edge!

I’ve only fished Trelawney once which was July this year so I don’t have a lot of experience but hopefully this will help.

Down the edge is a good bet, some right munters down there. Peg wise you want 32, fish 16m to the island and you should empty the place mate. I find hard 6mm pellet works well down there but coat it in hard as nails or Gardner rig glue so it will last you all match which in turn will save you loads of time. You also don’t get as many silvers as the pellet doesn’t go so soft that they can slurp it down.

It’s also worth having a line down the middle for anything that swims, I stayed on this line for an hour, also on hard 6mm pellet. Then I went down the edge and was getting decent carp amongst the odd roach which weren’t a bad size either.

If you can fish the pole across to the far bank then this should be your main line of attack but a method/bomb can still catch you a few on the far bank.

I weighed in 40lb odd for a section win.

dont ignore the f1s there is loads in there now i would either put a soft pellet swim in or fish shallow pinging 6’s an fishing up an down on that line an look to catch them an the odd carp, big fish to be caught at 5m too an the edge if u have room, basically set everythin up but dont just fish for big fish on the low numbers as u might come unstuck. bomb an 8mms tight over can work well an also gives u the option of chuckin the wag over the same line hope that helps

I fished an open that clint ran a couple of weeks ago. drew peg 27 and had 84lb for 5th overall. Clint won it on about peg 21 fishing 8mm hard pellet to the island, the next 2 weights were next to him fishing paste short, about 4-5 meters, i also caught on paste short and down the edge, the guys are right though, there are some proper munters to be had down the edge!
The f1’s seemed to show better round the other side.

There are loads of F1a in there, but you need a LOT of F1s to make up for one proper carp. The old lumps seem to average about 6lb now, with some (much) bigger ones down the edge. Personally, I wouldn’t bother fishing shallow at all unless I drew in the bay (approx peg 12-14) and even then you will probably catch more fishing down the edge or on the deck.

I would approach it exactly as top2 describes (short pole and margins), but with the caveat that you will struggle to catch down the edge if every peg is in.
