TF_DishyfishTournament pro= Are you booked on this Sunday? If so I will be there on another match. Just ask for Del. I would say 99% of the time, the wider part of the lake is where you want to draw. Pegs used here are normally 1,3,5 and opposite which are 26,24,22. These pegs can produce to method, tebag, waggler. Coming out of the wides peg 19 is a good one and 14 can throw up, if wind blowing down that end. In short if you draw in the wides, you have a good chance of framing. Just fish with what you are happy with. Most baits work, but the wides do dominate most matches. Good luck and if your there Sunday see you there.

TF_toplightsDelbert.I shall be on the bank with two (shorter)refurbished, long top twos, that bl@@dy Joe has still got my float,to add to the injury of keeping the allmost double figure carp that would have won me the section. You imagine how i felt to loose another just as big.they cost me points bigtime. Not for the first time, and it wont be the last. ~naughty ~naughty
Edit Must get some more Diawa CTK 10s,anyone out there got any for sale?,they have a white band round em. -

Maybe in the height of summer, more around 80/100lbs at present. Carp around 6-8lbs will be the average.
Did a couple of hours late afternoon last Saturday, sat on peg 19 and fished sweetcorn 5 meters to the right down the edge and caught well, lake was quite – be a bit different if a few are booked on a match. -
07/04/2011 at 4:57 pm #137265
tournament_procheers for that mate
Are those pics old? he said theres 26 pegs but it shows 30 on the photo
looks a bit tight with all pegs in
every other peg though should give plenty of room?
hoping the sudden warm weather has got a few stirring about
-
07/04/2011 at 6:32 pm #137277
TF_teabagpegs 1 to 26 only are used during matches.
the picture is a few years old, but the pegs are the same and a bit more vegitation round the lake.if struggling on pole line – feeder/teabag to the sunken island right down the middle of lake.~shh

TF_PikeyWhen you get more than 12 anglers on the lake it tends to switch off completely except for a couple of pegs.

TF_toplightsIf i had 60lb i would hope to be in the frame this time of year.170lb i would say is a tad optimistic.

TF_toplightsTP,If its that warm, all the fish will be wanting to do is spawn and you’l catch sweet FA.lol.

08/04/2011 at 4:32 pm #137376
TF_PikeyI wouldn’t think that Old lake will have warmed up enough yet for the fish to spawn.
I think there are 10 booked in at the moment so assuming that nobody else books in then it might be quite good.

tournament_prowhat I meant is when places suddenly warm up at this time of the year they usually go crazy if its sudden
like 250lb at tunnel barn etc,
300lb at rolfs suddenlywho knows…..
sounds a good craic anyway, 6-6.5 hours so plenty of time to fish badly
-
08/04/2011 at 7:23 pm #137400
TF_toplightsIt was said tongue in cheak Pikey~think, are you booked in then?
-
08/04/2011 at 7:27 pm #137403
TF_toplightsTP,you woulden’t catch 300lb if you fished it for a week.~hand
It’s not like it was in the good old days. ~shh -
09/04/2011 at 6:18 am #137446
Method ManI have had 187lb on the pole from peg 18, but that seems like a lifetime ago, i think a ton should do it !

TF_teabagDay ticket lads caught plenty today, one of the lumps at 25lb has been moved – so that’s one less to worry about.

It’s not like it was in the good old days. ~shhIf any lake could it would be old, last years top weight was around 250lb, and a few more 200+ wins.

TF_Pikey14 is too many on Old !
They could have taken a few more and put a section somewhere else. -
10/04/2011 at 6:49 pm #137550
TF_teabagYes they could have but with Mosley taking 2 of the other lakes up and day tickets/nights in full swing, they are going to shut another whole lake and lose money for what would be a small section.
Any news on the results ????
-
10/04/2011 at 7:17 pm #137555
TF_PikeyWouldn’t need to have closed a whole lake – coul dhave just pegged the back spit and bomb hole.
Todays Result and guess where the weights came from !
Ben Emery………Peg 24…….84-14-0
Lance Buckle……Peg 1……..84-2-0
Hayden Woods……Peg 26…….82-12-0
Glenn Wills…….Peg 3……..70-10-0
Andy Quarmby……Peg 22…….67-0-0The far end was rubbish, I had 13-10-0 from Peg 12, Ross had 2 carp from Peg 14 and Plummers had 2 carp from Peg 17- what a waste of a day and It was bleeding hot on our bank !

10/04/2011 at 7:37 pm #137556
TF_teabagSo are saying all the descent anglers drew the other end. lol
The place is keeping up as per usual then, sounds like you had a day like I did last Saturday on Pittance.

TF_RossnRumour from yesterday, I can’t possibly comment 🙂
Jason / John caught well on beef Coshida on Saturday from pegs around 5 – 7
Fact is that although the pegs in the “wides” always produce top weights when there’s a few anglers on the lake, those pegs had a blank peg each side of them but pegs 5, 6 and 7 were all in the bag.
John and Jason drew pegs 5 and 6 and were the first two to pack up. The pegs in the wides produced the first 6 places
And….all beef Coshida had disappeared from the shelves of the on site shop…it will probably be back later today ~clap

Can honestly say the Saturday bit is wrong, John was not there all day and Jason spent the day in the Cabin and the only gear he got out was his old carp gear to sell off.
Believe it or not I actually spent saturday pleasure fishing for silvers on Horseshoe, now that is somthing which is hard to believe. lol

11/04/2011 at 12:14 pm #137602
TF_RossnMalcolm , Yeah, it doesn’t read right, I’ll try again
The rumour was that John and Jason had fished it on Saturday and caught on beef flavoured Coshida. Yesterday that flavour had disappeared from the shelves, It was suggested that it had maybe been removed ~think
My main moan was about the pegging. I spoke to them before the match and said that whenever there are loads of people on the lake that all the fish move into the “wides” i.e. Pegs 1 – 5 and 21 – 26 opposite. I was told that they knew best and they pegged 1 3 5 6 7 10 12 14 17 19 20 22 24 26.
I have no idea why they would peg 5 6 and 7 together but leave out 2 and 4, unless of course they’d been practising somewhere around pegs 5, 6 and 7…who knows ?
As we expected, pegs 1 3 24 & 26 filled first 4 spots, pegs at the other end of the lake struggled for a bite.

Mark…were you moving the silvers for Paul ?
I do agree that it’s hard to believe that the king of the teabag was fishing for silvers, whatever is the world coming to ??
-
11/04/2011 at 1:51 pm #137611
TF_teabagstarted the day off on the pole and was catching a silver a put in, everyone else were struggling for carp so I stuck with it, did not know they wanted some moved till around lunchtime and that’s when I put a net in, moved around 40 decent size Roach/Rudd and one F1, all the small silvers were put back in Horseshoe.
Actually enjoyed the day and might have another go next week.
