I use a pair of Brasher gortex walking boots in conjunction with sealskinz socks. Bloody brilliant and you can walk in them.

                  Skeetex Boots.

Any decent walks then I would look for some specialist outdoor footwear. I have some fellsman 4 x 4 Italian boots. Very good but walking boots are the best bet these days.

                      baffin trapper boots.
the only reason people don’t buy these is because they’re £100.
however i’ve had mine now for three years and they’re still like new.
my mate has a pair of skeetex and the liners have come unstitched in one winter.
sometimes suprisingly these days you really do get what you pay for.

I have poor circulation in my feet, something to do with smoking from an early age I’m told. Iv’e tried all sorts of boots/wellies, even tried chemical foot warmers and heated insoles that work off a battery pack strapped to your ankle! Still can’t find one that really works but will try putting boots and warm socks on once I get to my peg in future. I find the walk makes my feet sweat and they then get colder quicker. Its all a bit of a bind though, particularly if its chucking it down with rain.

they have a foil/fabric liner and inside the sole there is a waffle insole which seperates you from the floor.
they are rated to -30. i’ve been out in them down to around -10 after breaking the ice and fishing last year.
they really are a bit odd to wear in that your feet never get cold but they never get warm either they just seem to stay at the temperature whereby you just don’t think about your feet all day.
mine are 3 years old including last winter i walked to work and back in them every day for six weeks.
me and my mate went to partridge lakes today and before we went i gave my friend a roll of duck tape to tape the liners of his less than a year old skeetex liners back together ~naughty

Skeetex for really cold days and short walks. Insulated red better usa made hunting boots otherwise, like walking boots but with goretex and thinsulate lining, excellent.

Dirkdiggler, have you got the Sub Zero’s or the Thermals? The thermals are said to be -60.

Interesting Slab. This comprehensive review does them a favour and they are not too expensive.

They are very good.I first got the normal tack boot 8 years ago.You can wear them with no socks.I found them very wam.Up graded to the Tay sport they are brilliant.I have tried lots of different winter boots with seal skin socks the lot. These are the best.

I’m still searching and would prefer a short boot rather than a “wellie”. I have tried heated inner soles before but they were cumbersome to use. Now, I might have found the ideal solution here, a bit expensive though. Anyone use them? http://www.thermosoles.eu/
