Hadrian Whittle’s tremendous 34lb bag of bleak made was perhaps the highlights of the 60-angler Wye Festival organised by Hereford and District AA.

But it was Lee Green who took the three-day event in the tightest ever finish to this event.
It’s a match that has produced huge bags of dace on the pole in particular in the past, but although some were caught and there were also some nice bags of perch, it was the feeder than dominated with barbel and chub making up most of the big weights.
An incredibly tight first day saw Hadrian topping the frame with 27lb, with Dave Harrell on 26lb and Mike Bradley third with 25lb.
Hadrian’s 1200-fish bleak bag saw him finish second on day two and despite Lee Green pipping him for top spot with 35lb 12oz, he was looking good for the title.
However, the final day saw two 50lb bags on the feeder and Hadrian out of the main frame. In the end three anglers tied on five section points and it all went to section wins, Lee taking the honours with two and Andrew Murphy pipping Hadrian for second on a weight countback.
