Bedforshire’s noted bream water Brogborough Pit has thrown up a new venue record at 16lb 9oz.

The fish is said to have been in immaculate condition and was previously uncaught. But the angler wants to keep fishing the swim for an even bigger bream and so is keeping mum about which swim he caught it from… and who he is!

Meanwhile Stef Horak, who has been fishing Stoneacres in Oxon with Phil Smith, has banked fish of 14lb 12oz, 13lb 14oz, 12lb 3oz and 11lb 5oz, all on mini boilies.

Phil recently set a new personal best and venue record of 16lb at the huge water.

One of Britain’s pioneering bream anglers and a former Queenford Lagoon regular, he is planning on switching to a Colne Valley gravel pit soon where he thinks there’s a chance of a 20lb bream!
