1 S Gray, Worksop, 19-14-0; peg outer 52 Stu Gray won for the second Saturday in a row.  Following a week of snow and hard frosts conditions proved harder than more recent matches. Stuart caught carp to 4lbs using the long pole with pellet and a total weight of 19-14-0.

 

2 G Wilde, Fishing Republic, 18-6-0;  peg outer 46 Geoff was just over  1lb behind with a second place weight of 18-6-0 of carp caught on both pole and bomb.

 

3 R Vaughan, Handsworth, 14-12-0; peg island 5 Richard caught carp and skimmers on the pole using pellet. He also lost 3 carp which probably would have won him the match

 

4 A Sellars, Bankside Tackle, 9-1-0;       5 P Bagshaw, Maver Barnsley, 7-12-0

Daiwa Hallcroft Open (Sunday)

Moat/Reed  (48 pegs)

 

1 M Edgcombe, Hallcroft, 65-8-0; peg Moat outer 110 Although the water temperature was still below 4 degrees Mal Edgecombe still managed to get the carp feeding. He fished the pole at 12m using pellet to catch carp up to 6lbs in a total weight of 65-8-0 and a comfortable win.

 

2 A Newbury, Hallcroft,  39-14-0; peg Reed 24 Andy caught carp to 8lbs fishing 11m on the pole and alternating between corn and pellet on the hook.  He landed at total weight of 39-14-0 of carp for second overall.

 

3 A Payling, Peg One, 33-6-0; peg Reed 38 Arnie fished pellet on the pole at 9m and caught a mixed net of skimmers and carp for 33-6-0

 

4 Franco Pezzulo, Middy Dons, 31-4-0;              5 S Spurr, Ultimate

1 N Speed, Dynamite Baits, 57-0-0; peg 24 Nick Speed won this Reed match with 57-0-0 and with a comfortable margin.

Fishing pole and pellet at 12m from peg 24 Nick caught carp to 7lb along with skimmer bream to 2lb

 

2 S Gray, Worksop, 39-15-0; peg 31

Stuart Gray used similar tactics but included a bigger net of skimmers for his weight of 39-15-0

 

3 S Crompton, Triana, 36-4-0; peg 37

Shane Crompton alternated bomb and corn with pole and pellet for carp to 6lb

 

4 J Masson, Maver BCUK, 32-14-0;          5 G Bennett, Peg One, 31-6-0

1 J Simms, Hallcroft, 42-6-0; peg 8

Venue regular Joe Simms blitzed this Tuesday field with a pellet and pole attack from peg 8. Joe caught carp to 3lb for 42-6-0

 

2 C Owen, Tigra Tackle, 24-15-0; peg 6

On adjacent peg 6 Craig Owen also fished pole and pellet for small carp

 

3 A Favill, Sun Inn, 19-15-0; peg 2

Third was Andy Favill fishing similar tactics

Daiwa Hallcroft Tournament League (Wednesday) Bridge/Reed  (22 Pegs)

 

1 I Temple, Hallcroft, 52-4-0; peg Bridge island 1 This Wednesday open was split between Bridge and Reed and with only 5lb separating the top three it was a close fought match. Fishing from Bridge island peg 1, Ian Temple came out the winner with 12 carp to 5lb taken on pole and pellet at 10m for 52-4-0.

 

2 S Robbins, Leegem, 47-15-0; peg Bridge island 10 Steve Robbins also drawn on Bridge fished pole, pellet and corn for 10 carp and 10lb of skimmer bream

 

3 G Bennett, Peg One, 47-12-0; peg Reed 36 Geoff Bennet caught carp to 8lb alternating bomb and corn with pole and pellet

 

4 M Edgecombe, Hallcroft, 39-8-0;      5 P Wright, Leegem, 36-2-0

1 D Boswell, Retford, 41-2-0; peg island 73 Drawn on favoured peg 73 Dave Boswell won this latest Veterans’ match with 41-2-0. Dave fished pole and pellet at 10m for 11 carp

 

2 M Taylor, Mansfield, 24-18-0; peg island 47 Mick Taylor fished groundbait feeder and maggot for 8 carp and second place

 

3 A Payling, Peg One, 22-11-0; peg outer 52 Arnie Payling was third with 22-11-0 of small carp and skimmers caught on pole and pellet at 8m

 

4 D Clegg, Britannia, 20-8-0

1 A Reeve, Rod and Line Ripley, 39-7-0; peg island 10 Fishing from the island peg 10, Alan Reeve bagged a mixed net of carp to 4lb and skimmers taken on pole and pellet for 39-7-0

 

2 S Crompton, Triana, 22-8-0; peg outer 52 Shane Crompton, pegged on the outer, also fished pole and pellet for 22-8-0

 

3 P Massey, Sheffield, 20-10-0; peg island 4 Paul Massey took third spot with 20-10-0, again to pole and pellet

 

4 J Dye, Sheffield, 19-3-0;        5 J Hobson, Hallcroft, 19-0-0

 

Pleasure Fishing

 

Moat – pleasure anglers continue to have good sport on Moat using the bomb with meat or corn. Pole with pellet is still catching carp and skimmers.

 

Bridge – new carp are showing well with pleasure nets of up to 40lb being reported

 

Reed – plenty of bites on the pole using pellet or maggot. Good nets of skimmers showing with catches of over 20 lb reported

 

Croft – despite the carp shoaling up in areas pleasure days of up to 50lb are still regular. The main tactic is long pole using pellet.
