A strong cold northerly wind put pay to any large weights in this monday vets open. Mark Cordall of Retford led the way with 40lb from island peg 24. Mark fished pellet feeder with hair riggd corn for 7 carp and a few skimmers

Roger fished pole and pellet at 11m for 5 carp upto 8lb and a few skimmers

Nigel also caught on pole and pellet for his weight of 28lb

Croft Pool again produced the winner in this latest veterans open. Ken Pacey drew favoured corner peg 0 and made no mistakes. Alternating between pole and pellet and bomb with meat and corn Ken caught carp to 6lb and skimmers and tench for 59lb.

Mick Burrell fished bomb with hair rigged corn for carp to 8lb and added silvers fishing pole with worm and caster.

Carp/Silver Open Match.

1 A Sellars, Bankside Tackle, 100-4-0; peg Out 30 With the introduction of a regular weekend open match offering payouts for both carp and silverfish weights, there was plenty to fish for in today’s match. Winning today’s match and claiming first prize in the carp payout was Andy Sellars who fished a ground bait feeder with treble maggot and landed over 20 carp. The silverfish winner was local angler Gary Mumby who netted over 19lbs of roach, perch and skimmers using caster on the pole at 13m.
2 G Gibson, Worksop, 43-5-0; peg Out 26
Gordon Gibson alternated between feeder and pellet on the pole to catch carp and skimmer bream for second place overall.
3 P Bagshaw, Maver, 33-0-0; peg Isl 70
Pete Bagshaw finished third overall, but took second place in the carp payout with carp too 7lbs caught on the feeder to the far bank.
4 J Masson, Maver Marukyu, 32-13-0; 5 D Dare, Marukyu, 30-8-0.

Gary Mumby’s recent good form continued today with a magnificent winter net of common and mirror carp to 8lbs plus. Gary caught on feeder with corn and long pole with pellets.
2nd W Lomas, MAP Leegem, 61-8-0; peg isl 60
Wayne Lomas fished the bomb to the middle of moat using double hairrigged corn as bait, to claim second overall.
3rd P Wright, MAP Leegem, 53-8-0; peg out 21
The close third spot fell to tackle dealer Phil Wright who netted mostly carp on bomb and feeder using banded pellet.
4th J Skipper, Gainsborough, 53-4-0; 
5th A Oldham, Halkon Hunt, 51-13-0;
6th D Oldham, MAP Leegem, 51-3-0.
