The River Severn has produced its biggest barbel in a very long time in the shape of a 15lb 12oz beauty to Hartpury angler Kevin Gittins.

Kevin, who has targeted the big river’s barbel for over a decade up to four times a week, tempted the personal best with a Teme Severn boilie wrapped in paste and mounted on a size 6 hook and braid mainline.
Kevin said: “Water temperature is the key to the barbel feeding in winter, and if it’s mild with a little bit of extra water around, you have to get out there.”
