Shimano and Dynamite Baits backed ace, Rob Wootton has lifted the Shakespeare Championship winners trophy, and £6,000 first prize, after a close match on Evesham’s Warwickshire Avon. The Leicester based rod caught a net of good perch and chub on long pole and flat float tactics, feeding chopped worms and maggots through  a baitdropper.  Rob’s winning net included perch to 2lb, and chub to 3lb, with him adding a couple of late fish on waggler to boost his total to 13-1-0.

Rob said: “I am over the moon to have won – today sees the end of a real tough patch for me. Since the Ivan Marks memorial earlier in the year, I have been having a difficult spell – and hopefully today spells the end of it! I haven’t really thought about what I am going to do with the money, probably spend it on booze and cheap women” joked Rob.In second place with 9-9-0 was former Shakespeare Champion, Gary Miller. Gary, who won the event back in 2010, backed up some early fish on bloodworm, with a good net of perch and eels taken on maggot feeder, from peg 25 on the Corporation
Meadow.

Preston Innovations backed ace Michael Buchwalder finished in third place. Drawn on peg 71, Michael snared an early bream on bloodworm, and took several more chunky perch through the day to finish with 9-2-0.
