Long Eaton Victoria Angling Society are pleased to announce that on Wednesday 12 November 2014 approximately 20,000 “new” fish (weighing around eight hundred pounds) were stocked into the Erewash Canal in Long Eaton by the Canals & Rivers Trust.

These consisted mainly of bream in the 3” to 8” size range, but also included around two hundred large bream (each weighing between two and four pounds) and roach to one pound in weight.

The bigger fish should settle nicely before spring when they should spawn and further add to the rapidly growing canal stocks.

The stocking was witnessed by LEVAS’s General Secretary Dave Kent who took the photographs shown.

It is expected that these fish will show up in member’s catches in the very near future as they spread throughout the stretch of canal between Long Eaton’s Derby Road Lock and Trent Lock.
