Ten-year-old Gael Commergnat boated this 30lb 8oz (13.83-kilogram) giant trahira (Hoplias aimara) – also known as the wolf fish – while fishing Brazil’s Rio Juruena.

The Fench angler needed only six minutes to land the fish, which was quickly weighed, documented and released alive.

If approved, the catch will earn Commergnat the new IGFA ‘Male-Smallfr’y world record, which currently stands at 24lb.
