Overcast with sunny spells, ambient temperature of 9 deg with a biting wind of NE15mph (Fish feed least in a East wind) , barometer of 1032.9mb, humidity 66%, moon phase full,  water temperature of 7.8 to 7.6, DO of 10.1 ppm,  PH 7.78 was the setting of today’s match.

Angel Lakes Catch Report

As water temperatures warm up some fantastic catches are being reported and registered by anglers. Every species is feeding and some good sized, quality and quantity of fish being caught.

Various methods a Andy Turner fished 70 yards between Island on Hair Rigged Sweetcorn and Special G groundbait.  Chopped and Changed between Pellet and Corn on the hook, 0.14mm super Shanobie line to 14Animal Hook. 25 fish for 30lb 14oz. Andy is sponsored by Vespe Army AF.

nd baits working exceptionally well with feeder and luncheon meat taken 107 carp in one session, Maggot  or caster and sweetcorn as a cocktail also doing well.  Expander pellets on hook also now working exceptionally well. In conjunction with 3mm Angel pellets used as feed to draw  the fish into your swim.

Lookout mixed coarse

Monday was tench day, a tench of 10lb being reported caught on Monday, with lots of anglers reporting tench both small and up to 7lb being caught, with golden tench also coming out in large numbers averaging 1 1/4 lb. 

Ian Dixon is on tremendous form this week with 27 carp caught in one hour, and ended his day with 105 fish best to 5lb on small ¼ oz bomb with cubes of Luncheon meat on hook. Ian has fished a further five times this week with some excellent results ending on Sunday with a lovely  doubled figured Koi Carp.

Michael Foxhall a visitor from Bodmin Cornwall had a really good days fishing with 2 nice tench, 6 bream, mirror carp, loads of skimmers,  roach, rudd and perch. Michaels quote ‘ was well worth the 450 miles trip, look forward to the next visit for another 100 plus fish.’ 

Lob worm tails with sweetcorn  as a cocktail doing well for targeting larger species.

Dendra also doing well, 

Ideal ground bait mix for fishing tight to margins Angels 3mm pellets, Angels boiled hemp and a bag of Angels fishmeal. The mixture is best mixed to a consistency of porridge introduced either by poll cup or bait spoon. 

Best flavourings Van Den Eynde preditor plus, liquid halibut pellet and scopex.

Bowes Carp Lake 

Mixed results depending on method used, Feeder working the best with double hair rigged sweetcorn also double maggot.  Anglers float fishing are advised to use a power waggler float rod, due to the size of the fish in Bowes those who are using the right set up are  doing some excellent work when used in the margins. Poles doing very well also when weather conditions permit and perfect presentation can obtained  resulting in some excellent bags. 

Angel expander pellets starting to work well on hook, with fishmeal hookable pellets also doing well. 

Bassetts mixed coarse 

Excellent catches this week coming out with new and old stock all-feeding well.  

Recently introduced mirrors and commons are now starting to feed well. Female angler Joanne Slater had an excellent morning coaching session catching Crucians to 1lb 1/4oz and a good bag of roach, Rudd, Golden Rudd, tench and ide. Joanne was fishing the waggler tight to the margins in 2.5ft of water. Bait used was a cocktail of maggot and caster.  

Maggot and sweetcorn also hookable Angel expander pellets working well. 

Coaching  

Coarse Fish Coaching is now getting into full swing with both the attendance and coaching and enquiries growning fast. Angel Lakes would like to bring it to the attention of anyone interested in taking part in coaching sessions to book ASAP as spaces are limited, which is great news for our sport.

 Coaching for beginners consists of a block booking of six lessons and for anyone who may wish to have a taster session prior to booking a course can book this also.
