John Andrews is planning another Vintage Tackle Fair in November after his May event in Redditch proved a big success.

Among the highlights picked out at the fair was a photo album belonging to John Essex containing dozens of black and white originals prints that had been used in Midland Angler in the 1950s.
John said: “There were plenty of old Redditch-related tackle items coming out from the visitors including some dating back to the 19th century from previously unknown makers. Garry Mills of the Mill Tackle Company was mobbed with people wanting centrepins repaired and split cane rod maker Andrew Davis was also rushed off his feet.”
One stall everybody stopped at was that belonging to Jeff Della Mura, who had proof copies of his forthcoming book ‘Hooked On Floats’ for people to look at in advance of taking orders for finished copies.
“The book is a tome, nothing less, containing a veritable illustrated history of the fishing float from 1860-1960,” remarked John.
“Fair sponsor Neil Freeman from Angling Auctions was also busy doing valuations and we had a lot of people bringing tackle in to be sold.”
The next fair is at the same venue – the Kingsley Sports Centre in Redditch on Sunday 18th November, 2012.
