Pitsford Water
Anglers are enjoying an outstanding start to the new season at Pitsford Water with a rod average of 4.8. The spring weather has helped to get the fish in feeding mood, with anglers even taking fish on buzzers.

Martin Fairbrother has taken a limit to remember over the weekend from the boat. His eight fish limit weighed 31lb 6oz. He took a 5lb 6oz and a 5lb 1oz brace of Rainbows and two others over 4lb with his smallest fish being 2lb 10oz.

Richard Grahams of Wollaston caught a limit of Rainbows with his best fish at 4lb 2oz and his smallest at 2lb. Richard also fished the boat. Dave Newens fished the bank on Friday and Saturday and took his 8 fish limit and returned a further 11 fish.

Dennis Thorpe has recorded the best fish so far this season at 6lb 2oz. This was taken from the bank.

Pitsford retail assistant and fishing expert Jude Tuffs fished with England Youth Coach Phil Longstaff. Jude took the day off work to help improve Phil’s skills so that he can pass them on to the youth team. Jude took her limit of 8 fish quickly whilst boat fishing. She commented that the fish were well spread out and close to the margins.

The method at the moment is black and green patterns and buzzers and damsels on floating and slow sink lines. Top bank spots are north shore gravels. Boat anglers have caught well all over but with the Gravels and the Holly Tree the best areas.

We are currently experiencing water levels below 70% at Ravensthorpe Reservoir and Pitsford Water. Due to the risk of soft mud fishing will not be available from some bank areas, boat fishing is unaffected.
At Pitsford Water there are eleven areas currently identified where bank fishing will not be available and a separate map is available from the Fishing Lodge which shows these. Boat fishing will continue as normal and boats are available, but please book to avoid disappointment.

Ravensthorpe Reservoir
Fish week 248 Returns 48 Rod average 5.1
Ravensthorpe Reservoir is continuing to provide excellent sport for the new season. All methods seem to be working well. Mike Osgood of Arthingworth, Market Harborough, had a 10lb Rainbow on bloodworm and floating line. Peter de Kremer had a 9lb 9oz on black buzzer. Pat Flyn of Northampton had a great day returning 21 fish. Bank anglers are catching off the dam with black/green lures, buzzers and blood worm.

Lorenzo Serrano of Leicester celebrated his birthday in style. Lorenzo fished catch and release, sharing a boat with Kelvin Tallet of Daventry. The pair started fishing by the dam finding fish on damsels and black and green lures. They then moved to in front of the island and returned a large number of fish. Lorenzo’s best fish of the day was a cracking over wintered 6lb 7oz Rainbow.
We are currently experiencing water levels below 70% at Ravensthorpe Reservoir and Pitsford Water. Due to the risk of soft mud fishing will not be available from some bank areas, boat fishing is unaffected.
At Ravensthorpe bank angling will be limited and available only from the dam wall. Boat fishing will continue as normal and boats are still available, but please book to avoid disappointment.
