There was a good turnout of 30 anglers for the Birdgnorth Angling Society match on the River Severn and Linley on Sunday and those who made the frame enjoyed some decent sport.

Barbel fishing on the feeder has come to be dominated by pellet fishing on the big river these days, so it was good to find out that winner Phil Williams employed good, old-fashioned maggot feeder tactics from peg 57 at the damson tree to fool five good barbel for a winning 30-11-0. Ken Lee was second with 19-7-0, Wombourne’s John Webb third with 17-11-0 and Chris Holmes just behind on 17-5-0.
