Amazon-Angler.com’s friend and client Art Wenson from Columbus, Ohio USA has just smashed the World Record with a 17lbs 8oz Granulated Catfish on a trip with us on the Rio Madidi in Bolivia.

Primarily Amazon-Angler’s exclusive Arapaima and Giant Catfish destination, Art used cut fish bait to wrangle this strange-looking Catfish from a deep hole in the main river. Art’s record fish weight is pending with IGFA, with the existing world record is 15lbs and 8oz.

Amazon-Angler.com’s Steve Townson believes the potential of its exclusive Arapaima and Catfish destination in Bolivia is unsurpassed by any fishery he’s ever seen.

“Each lake and lagoon (we have access to over 100 of them) is filled with huge hungry Arapaima. We catch them on lures and baits and we are looking forward to hosting a group of fly anglers in the near future”.

“We have already broken a World Record in the river for Granulated Catfish, and we have also caught Jau Cats which would have smashed the existing World Record (109lbs) by over 70lbs!!”

“The Arapaima Paradise Lodge is a brand new comfortable lodge with great food, great accommodation and great hosts. It is set within the grounds of a vast working Brazil Nut harvesting farm area and our anglers fly into the farm’s airstrip from Riberalta, a short hop from the main city of Santa Cruz in Bolivia.

“The fishing here is excellent and we look forward to hosting many more small groups for the upcoming seasons (July – Nov)”.
