Fifty-five anglers lined up along the roadside stretch of the North Bank of the River Nene. Hot and still conditions made the fishing tricky and the stretches resident bream were finicky.

Gavin Butler was the runaway winner in the match with 19lb 10oz of bream on the feeder, from an early peg in zone A.

Third place overall and qualifying from zone B was Matt Derry who winkled out a single bream and added a number of small fish on the pole to weigh 8lb 5oz.

The final qualifier from zone C was Stuart Northrop, who again showed that you don’t need bream to qualify from the North Bank. His 5lb 12oz of pole caught small fish was enough to secure the final place in the prestigious final.

Our thanks to PDAA for hosting, clearing and preparing swims for the event.
