Kidderminster angler Jeff Randle has landed a catfish which may have been bigger than the fishery record at Shatterford Lakes.

The big fish easily bottomed out 55lb scales and estimates put it at around 75lb – the venue record is the 70-pounder banked by Sean Mills in 2011 and Jeff’s cat is thought to be a different fish.
Jeff also landed a 16lb catfish during the same session on peg 2 – both caught using luncheon meat.
The hot weather has really brought the water’s catfish onto the feed, with Paul Passmore landing a 31-pounder from Stuarts along with a specimen 4lb 8oz eel on lobworm.
Andy Greatrex had three catfish going 17lb, 21lb and 27lb 8oz from Masters and Stuarts while Halesowen angler Daven Percival fished Masters using livebait tactics for catfish going 22lb, 31lb and 43lb 8oz.
