I am pleased to announce that the PartyPoker.com Fish’O’Mania final is being held, for the first time, at Cudmore on July 19th 2008  on Arena Lake which was specifically designed and built in 1978  for televised events.
Televised live by Sky Sports, Fish’O’Mania will feature 16 anglers going head-to-head for a first prize of £25,000.
There will also be supporting events taking place on the same day across the whole of Cudmore Fishery.
I have always felt there were missed opportunities with the only major angling event, fully televised,  not being used to its full potential to increase numbers of people taking up the sport of angling.
I took an idea that I had to the major companies in the angling trade and following many discussions, it was felt we should go ahead with a new supporting event even though we were short of time.
The name of the event will be “The Fishing Experience”, with the aims of the event being primarily a showcase Fish’O’Mania final that existing anglers and potential members of the public can come and watch live.
In addition we are aiming for the following goals:
1. To allow existing anglers the opportunity to view all the new and best fishing brands on the market.
2. Test drive all the major brand products in an actual fishing environment.
3. See demonstrations on how to fish and brush up on fishing skills.
4. How to prepare ground bait.
5. Book a special fishing holiday.
6. Junior speed match, all tackle provided, to encourage youngsters into the sport.
7. On site instruction by qualified instructors for all ages.
8. Advice from sponsored anglers and teams, to all levels.
9. The opportunity to purchase all major brands of fishing products on the day
There will, of course, be some fun activities for the rest of the family and hopefully the whole day will provide something of interest for every one.
This event will be the first to encompass all of the above activities under the remit of course fishing on a single day.
This is all set on the beautiful Whitmore Estate in the heart of Staffordshire, which is owned by the Cavenagh Mainwaring family.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank David Duffes, Roy Marlowe of Pure Fishing/Shakespeare, Steve Peterson of Hardy/ Greys/Chub, Phil Briscoe of Maver Ricky Teal of Preston, John Walsh of Korum, Richard Griffiths of Shimano, Graham Slaughter Solar Baits, Mick Pridmore Dynamite Baits, Andy Stump Cotswold Baits, Ray Dale-Smith Carp “R” us and Simon Clarke Catfish-Pro Ltd. I would also like to thank Kevin Coe of Fishing Warehouse who is supplying the retail outlet for the event, which includes products of all the exhibitors and others. Without their help and support an event of this stature would not have been achievable
When I designed Arena and the New Match complex at Cudmore fishery it was to hold active angling exhibitions. Talks are now taking place with the trade and other parties to turn this into an active, annual three day event, encompassing all aspects of fishing, game, sea and coarse fishing, and an element of a country lifestyle.
I would like to thank Matchroom Sport, Sky Sports and PartyPoker.com, the sponsors of Fish’O’Mania for giving us the platform to work from and supporting the sport of angling.
Entry to the event is free, £5 car parking
