Cloudy conditions greeted the competitors for the Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier at Viaduct Fishery, Somerset on Saturday 9th April 2016 which helped make it a great qualifying round, with many of the 13 section winners weighing in between 80 lbs and 90 lbs.

Top rod on the day was Frenzee South West angler Daniel White, who drew peg 112 on Campbell. Starting on the bomb, Daniel took a few fish in the first hour before switching to the pole. He fished hard on the bottom before going shallow, the move which won him the match and 6mm pellet was the bait which resulted in his winning weight of 210 lbs 11 ozs.

The long journey from Worthing saw Jason Kirk draw peg 127 also on Campbell. Jason again used the bomb and pole catching carp on banded pellet to weigh in 146 lbs 02 ozs. Local rod Steve Tucker of Street drew Campbell peg 111, fishing bomb and pole with both pellet and meat taking fish to 14 lbs for 110 lbs 05 ozs. This was 1ozs more than Simon Kiefer who weighed in 110 lbs 04 ozs.

The Angling Trust would like to thank all the staff at Viaduct Fishery for making this a great qualifier.

The next Fish ‘O’ Mania action heads to Garbolino Lindholme Lakes at Epworth, Doncaster on Wednesday 13th April 2016.
