Dave Roberts, an automotive engineer from Hereford, has become the 2009 Midland Angler of the year after the fish-off at Barston Lakes near Solihull.

Dave won the event with three section points, a section win and a section second.

The first three-hour match was fished on the pole, and Dave won his section from peg 16 where he weighed in 30-8-0 of skimmers and F1s, beating Phil Ringer on the next peg by just over a pound.

The second three hour match on the feeder saw Dave take 22lb of carp on the Method to claim a second in section behind Tim Bull (33.08) on his other side.

Rob Cooksy took second after finishing on four points, tying with Danny Ashington but taking runner up spot by having a greater weight.
