Damp, muggy weather greeted the Seventy-five anglers that made their way to Lake View Fishery for the nineteenth Fish’O’Mania qualifier. That said lots of heavy rain in recent days, plus evidence that some fish were still spawning made for a very apprehensive atmosphere at the draw. Seven lakes were used so anglers were not short of room, but the going was tough for many.

Tuxford angler, Doug Jackson made a steady start from peg 7 on Stream by varying his approach between pellet on a short, then long line and caster shallow. As the match progressed corn down the margins found carp to 4lbs and F1s to total 118lbs 8oz and take that coveted spot in the final.

Second on the day was Dan Hull on Canal 9. Dan alternated between caster shallow and pellets across, to catch fish of a similar stamp to the winner and take 108lbs 14oz to the scales.

The ever-consistent Kieran Marsden was third with 105lbs 12oz from peg 1 on River, catching all his fish on banded hard pellet tight across. Fourth spot went to Richard Bonson on Canal 13 with 81lbs 6oz and Lake View regular, Steve Haywood filled fifth place with 75lbs 4oz from Stream peg 3.

Huge thanks are due to Richard, Debbie, and Jamie at Lake View for all their help and to David Kent who continues to run excellent Fish’O’Mania qualifiers.

The next Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier takes place at The Oaks in Sessay and tickets are now only available on the day, with the last qualifier at Lindholme Lakes on Wednesday 26th June.
