Fish O Mania – the most prestigious competition in match fishing due to its live Sky Sports coverage – has dropped its winner-take-all format and 2014 will see £5,000 go to the runner up as well as a cool £30,000 to the champion.

The move means that there will be almost £63,000 paid out over the two-day Fish O Mania finals weekend when you include the prize funds for the ladies, junior and intermediate events. Organiser Barry Hearn said that the extra money would come from the introduction of bigger qualifiers.

Tickets will be available online on the Angling Trust website from January 14th, 2014. There are qualifiers in the region at Makins Fishery (April 16th), Maver Larford Lakes (April 26th), Tunnel Barn Farm (May 3rd), and Woodlands View (June 11th).
