Gary Kirkham is looking to get more kids interested in match fishing on natural waters with a new Wednesday series on Upton Warren Gravel Pits at Bromsgrove. But he might get more interest from specialist anglers after two huge eels were caught in the first event – topped by a fish of over 6lb….
The council owned venue used to get 50 anglers on Monday nights when the late John Sherwood ran them. The opening event was hard but Total-Fishing.com can report that there were some very big eels indeed caught including one of 5lb 8oz to Browning Spa’s Mark Robertson.
That’s bigger than many dedicated specimen eels anglers have ever caught. Mark added a bream for a 8-12-0 winning total but there was an even bigger eel caught in the match – Dave Ward only had one bite all day but it came from a massive eel going 6lb 6oz (picture on the link below), which must be one of the biggest caught anywhere in the country so far this year!
