Advice on fishing the cone

I tried to fish the cone at the weekend but can’t work out how to keep it on the line. I put some pellets in the cone and then moved it down by the hook. I cast out but when I bought it back in the cone was gone.

I’m obviously missing something so would appreciate it if you could advise on how to keep the cone on the line. Thanks.

Should have saved this one for April 1st, mate!

If you’re serious, the cone is removed once the pellets are in place but before you cast out.

The best way is to compress the pellets really hard in the cone and then thread a gate latch baiting needle through it from the wide end. Attach the hooklength to the baiting needle and pull it through the cone. Then connect the hooklength to your quick release swivel/bead before removing the cone from the pellets and sliding it over the hook.

The end result is a cone of compressed pellets on the hook length.

Hope you haven’t been throwing expensive Guru pellet cones into the water!

i think you’re cone is far to small..you need to think big try one of these…

These work well well when their having it, just cut the bottom out and tie a rope to the handle to retrieve it afterwards.

Thanks for the replies and for the detailed explanation from Man of Kent. I didn’t use a guru cone (whatever that is). I cut up one of my top kits to give me lots of different cone shapes.

Sorry but I’m not sure how the road cone and bucket help.

ive got a little tool for making cones mate,, no,, not a cone fella’s!!!!~sick ~sick ~sick

a local angler makes them in his workshop and sells them for a few quid and they are awsome,,

Only problem with the bagless is even the smallest one puts out too much bait, its deffo a summer method ~shh
