advice wanted for selling my koi

  hi all, im after some advice on selling my 2 koi carp, unfortunately im redoing my garden as i have a little girl so the pond has got to go. does anyone know anybody in the midlands area who can give me any idea on what they are worth, 1 is about 8lb the other is about 3lb

  if i was you i would get some decent photos of em and stick em on ebay, they seem to go for good money on there.

  i keep koi myself mate,, you will struggle to get anywhere near there true value without knowing, age, sex, breed origins and health checks !
  people who keep koi seriously would not touch em with barg pole due to the above facts!!!
  your best bet is to stick em on ebay matey !
  you’ve picked the right time of year to sell though, if you where to try and sell em in winter you would struggle for a tenner each !!!
  stick em on mate, and make sure you add, buyer must collect and supply own transportation bags ect !!!

  Smed I base my opinion on the 8.5lb Koi being at least 24 ” long and the 3lber being 14 inches long I was in Nautilus aquatics last week and such size fish were comanding more than that what I have quoted.Your right though I havent seen the fish they could be horrible or homosexual or both lol !

  thing is there is A grade, B grade, C grade then ungraded..
  there is english bred (with english parentage)
  english bred (with japanese parentage)
  then japanese bred
  all command different prices
  then there is the many varieties and colours again prices can be from say 80 quid upto well thousands!
  
  like as been said, if you dont know what they are then stick em on ebay and take what u get for em, if there any good the price will rocket!

  Unless they’re awesome, bright fish with good colours and pattern then you’re not going to get a serious koi keeper to buy them. It’s such a gamble these days, one little fish with KHV can wipe out a collection worth a hundred grand. I haven’t bought a koi for five years, I’d like to but it’s just not worth the risk.
  
  Either ebay them or give them to somebody who has a pond that is capable of keeping them alive. You won’t make any money that way but you’ll have done a good deed and kept those fish alive.

  Well said Rossn,i keep koi myself and if your just looking for a good price for them and not thinking about there well being thats not a good thing.Someone with a small pond may give you the most cash for them but would they live~think doubtful,they will need a lot of space and good water quality to survive.As people have said if you dont know breeds,grades etc then a top koi owner will not touch them.If it was me i would find someone with a home suitable for them and give them away,at least you then know they will be looked after and more importantly survive.

  we have a pond 60m x 80m,the fish are welcome to thrive in it,our pond is in tamworth,all fish are cared for & has 6 pegs,we fish it once a week on average,its a private pond & it will remain this way,we can collect the fish & can mail you images of the koi in our safe enviroment.cheers
