TF_geepsterParticipantAngling Trust Recruiting New Staff
As a result of increased income from donations, subscriptions and funding from the Environment Agency, the Angling Trust is recruiting two new staff: a Membership Officer and a Regional Co-ordinator. These new staff will help grow the influence and support of the representative body for all game, coarse and sea anglers. The posts offer fantastic opportunities for keen anglers to build a career in angling working for the Angling Trust.
The Membership Officer (starting salary £14,000 pa + contributory pension) will join the Trust’s busy Leominster office in January 2012. The principal tasks will be:
• The recruitment and retention of members;
• Attending trade and tackle shows, events and competitions;
• Working closely with tackle manufacturers and retailers, fisheries and other angling businesses;
• Responding to enquiries from members;
• Publicising the Angling Trust’s activities and news.
The Regional Co-ordinator (starting salary circa £23,000 pa + contributory pension) will also join the Trust in January 2012, subject to Environment Agency funding being confirmed. The principal tasks of this role will be:
• Work with Regional Environment Agency staff to arrange regional forum meeting venues and refreshments;
• Distribute notice of all regional forum meetings to Angling Trust membership, tackle shops, fisheries and angling media;
• Liaise with Regional Chairmen and Secretaries to ensure regional agendas include national and regional consultations and Agency messages;
• Collate feedback from regions to present to Freshwater Committee;
• Liaise with Rivers Trusts to identify co-delivery opportunities;
• Work with the Chair and Secretary of the Freshwater Committee to set agendas and disseminate national information to Regional Chairmen and Secretaries;
• Disseminate byelaws and other key messages to membership and angling media;
• Liaise with the Environment Agency about, and inform anglers of planned Flood & Coastal Erosion work.
The closing date for applications for both posts is Friday 9th December. An application pack can be downloaded from the Angling Trust website:

If they’re attempting to address an English speaking nation that should be principle.
But hey, this is the Angling Trust, the future, apparently.

Unless I’m missing something, I’m not sure what your point is.
An attempt at sarcasm or a dig at the Angling Trust perhaps?
The principal or main tasks of the role are listed – quite correctly by the Angling Trust
The word principal can be adjective or noun. As an adjective it means “most important” or “main” (as in principal task). It can also be a noun meaning the “main or chief one.” (as in the principal of school)
The word principle is a noun referring to a law, a concept or to a code of conduct. It can never be used be used as an adjective.
To sum up – principal and principle have no meanings in common what so ever.
Once you understand this principle you should never get it wrong again.
I think you owe the Angling Trust an apology.

TF_caster robParticipantI don’t.
If principal is used as an adjective it is singular, so only the single most important activity should have been declared, not a list.

If that is ALL you can find to fault them with Rob……….. they must be doing a bloody good job with their very limited,hard won funding.

TF_caster robParticipantOK
I did and I do.
Still think the singular aspect of principal holds true though.
Bob’s point about the AT being funded by licence contributions (EA) was interesting.
Perhaps a compulsory levy won’t be necessary after all?
Disturbing……………..

TF_MICK THE BOOKIEI retract also……..Please forgive me if you can. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
I hope they find someone to fill both jobs…….Onwards and upwards.

TF_happy as larryAs we are approaching the season of goodwill, I also retract, on the basis that the AT are simply superb and tongue in cheek comments meant in good humour just aren’t necessary.
