Report on Redditch Federation/AVVC Open Arrow Valley Lake 18.8.12
The lake’s massive head of small bream up to the 1lb mark fed freely in this the latest in the series of summer open matches run by the Redditch Federation at Arrow Valley lake.
Long pole fishing with pellets and maggot hook baits dominated the match with all six leading places taken by anglers fishing in that style, on a day when the usually successful method feeder tactics took a back seat.
Bromsgrove’s Jason Evans took top spot with an excellent catch of 57lb 10oz taken from peg 17 made up with around 120 fish. Jason found some better stamp fish by using double maggot and fed groundbait to keep the shoal interested throughout the match.
Runner-up John Walkden was just half a dozen skimmers behind with 52lb 3 oz from peg 22 on the same bank as the winner.
Worcester angler Alf Hand took third spot, Alf was fishing over on the other side of the lake at peg 56 with 47lb 12 oz ahead of Brian Nicholls with 46lb 10oz and Paul Matthews with 44lb 2oz and John Walker on 40lb 14oz.
