TF_Col_WWell done -luckily I qualified at Lindholme yesterday as well. Really enjoyed the match but didn’t for a moment think tht I had qualified, was 4th on Bonsai lake!
I think the last PF Mag has an article with Dan Ashington fishing Barston, I can’t seem to find my copy at the moment though!
Only fished Barston once and didn’t even get a bite so not got much idea how to approach the place.
You Barston boys please post some info, cheers.

TF_Nigel.Hi Lads, well done. Barston is my place, i have had it for over 10 years now.
124 pegs, 25 acres, stocking is for matches, pleasure and carp.
110lb won Sundays match, all skimmers and F1s. They average 2lb a peice, so thats what your fishing for.
Its 4 foot all over, and the way to fish it is one pole line, and one feeder line.
0.12 on the pole, light float if its calm, up to a gram if its windy as it tows a lot!
Feed a few pellets, or a little GB or both, each put with a kinder pot, and fish a 4mm expander on the hook. Simple as that.
On the feeder, method is best, 25, to 75 yards, take your pick, i have seen it all, and it all works! Some areas are better short, some long!
Swim stim is good, as is Preston method, 2 red maggotts or a small red boily is excellent, i fish 8lb main line, and 0,20 hook length to a strong forged fox 18 hook, as a lump is possible, and they can go to 20lb!
There is an island in the middle, and has been good the last few weeks too.
No rules here, i hate rules, i fish to AT rules only.
Breakfast will be available, anything i have missed just ask.
See website below, see you on the day, Nigel. -

AnonymousThere’ll be a big match at Barston this coming Wednesday (UK Champs qualifier) so keep your eye on the results from that but the way to approach it is generally as Nigel has already advised.
Trolley required if you draw the riverside bank but you can park within a small distance of your peg if your on the roadside bank. -

TF_Col_WCheers NIgel, thats great info, really looking forward to the final. Will most likely travel down early on Wed for a practice and stay at a B&B as its a 4hr drive down for me.
Any idea which pegs you will be using for the match so at least I am practicing in the right area!

Hi GALPS,
Yes I am hoping to get to Barston around 11.00am on the Wed for a bit of practice and staying over just down the road from you. Really looking forward to it, hope we catch a few!
No doubt there will be a few anglers down on Wed having a practice – just wonder if they intend using both banks and spreading us out a bit. -
