beastmaster 9/11ft feeder rod

I must admit to owning one of the first of these origenal rods, when I first bought it carp were fairly small and the rod which was only used a couple of times helped me to a win or two, virtually paying its way, however a trip to Stafford moor with the then TF club lads soon showed the flaws in this rod when it comes to handling proper carp, (the rod was too soft, however I did manage a festival win but used a daiwa still water 9/11) needless to say the beastmaster was packed away and has never been used since, today I was cleaning up some kit (actually looking for another rod)and I stumbled across the rod which is in virtually new condition, more importantly time has moved on however I thought what a great rod for places like lindholme where the quarry are small f1’s and small carp!

Anyone still got and use these rods?

I still own and use an original beastmaster 9-11ft.use it at 9ft for bomb and short range feeder work on the pole line if it is too windy to hold the pole and at 11ft for bream/skimmers on the feeder.still a great rod

Still use my original 9/11 all the time, great rod and never broken a tip. Probably had it for 8 years or so now maybe more, can’t see any need to change as it works great

fred, everybody has there own ideas of wot a big fish rod should be but in my eyes the beastmaster is the tool, unless your near snags but other bomb rods would be useless two . i own 2 of the ax ones and fish for fish up to 20lb, but average 6 to 9lbs . the rods soft but gets them in quicker in my eyes with less hookpulls, 🙂

I have 2 of these rods and think there brilliant.
I use them at boddington, and think there spot on.
got my match pb on there last month 31 carp for 270lb 4oz.

Still got mine mine and used just as much as the day i bought it. Never broke a tip either like someone else said !.Great rod.

I may have to give the beastmaster rod another go,I must admit I am a great fan of the 10ft preston mini carp rods as these do everthing you would want from a mini rod, in fact I am that impressed I was going to buy a second one so that I can set up a bomb and pellet feeder for the same line, however I may just hold back on that purchase especially as a few of the lads feel that the beastmaster rod can handle the lumps! I feel certain it would make a better F1 rod as it does bend allarmingly when you hook a proper carp 😮 so much so I felt the lump was in control of the angler and not the other way round :rolleyes:

I have the 9/11 AX. I use it only my local every week for fish between 6-22lb. I use the lightest tip i got with it and its never let me down. Due to the softness of the rod you never get hook pulls. Best rod ive ever owned!! If anyone is selling any let me know…I WANT MOREEE.

I use my beastmaster 11ft regular at Viaduct to fish for 10lb fish and used it at Larford last week for fish up to 15lb, no problem !

In Open water its my number 1 rod, for snaggy swims I would however still turn to a Suveran for the extra pulling power.

ive got the original one and have had fish to 12.5 lb ,and i use it for method feeder about 30 yds ish with the 3 oz tip in ,bang and its fish on .superb bit of kit.

Is the AX the original Beastmaster?

I have one with an “SDR” reference on the rod, seems to have a bit of a flat spot where the tip meets the rod blank but feels nice…..

Anyone got any idea how things evolved?

The beastmaster AX 9-11ft was the next version of the original 9-11ft rod.the slight flat spot is purely due to the push in tips being,and common with the majority of rods with push in tips as opposed to sections with built in tips.SDR stands for Shimano Dynamic Response.the beastmaster commercial 9-11ft rods have a slightly better playing action due to have top sections with the tips built in,rather than push in tips.but as i said earlier,the9-11fts are all great rods 😎
