I hope I am wrong, but I hear on the grapevine that we could be in for some massive price increases on bloodworm and joker coming into the country. The recent shortages seem to have caused a few problems in Russia and the only Joker available is coming from Poland – hence the price increase.

It looks we might not get any bloodworm and joker until the end of this year, what are we going to do for the semis.

Can sam W enlighten us more?

I was talking in our shop yesterday about this subject and the general feeling was that worm and joker fishing was starting to die off.

It is becoming hard to get for lots of people and if prices go up a fair bit I think anglers and teams will do without it, especially if weights are caught on other baits.

Even when Sam brings it over its very hit and miss as to how much he brings and whether you get your shop orders covered.

We have decided to not even try to get it for customers anymore as they get annoyed when they order it on a Monday and come Friday there isn’t any, or not for our shop anyway.

Does anyone know if this is going to have an impact on the Sensas UK Challenge in a couple of weeks?

would think the extremely harsh winter and ice in eastern europe this year – must have affected collecting it at source from Poland & Ukraine. Even their major rivers have thick ice on them.

if people want some worm why not scrape your own,i used to get my own worm and joker years ago.i know the joker streams and rivers are long gone due to being cleaned up but i used to get plenty of worm from ponds and small lakes that are still there.?

From what I’ve been told until they bring the prices back down there won’t be any coming into the country because no one will pay £28 for a match pack, so I can see them banning it for the semis. Also I can’t see the foreign teams coming over for the Sensas challenge if there is no worm and joker.

                      ChrisMoorhead,

The groundbait has already gone up mate.

Sensas went up 10p although Dynamite baits have gone up a bit 40p-60p.

Certainly not to £6 a bag though.
