Some quality roach there and can’t believe how narrow and shallow the venue is to produce weights like that!

That is fishing how it should be done!
          😮

Bob’s summed this up as it was an incredible match, 40lb was needed to get in the top 6, plus there were mid thirties backing weights as well. There were roach caught to nearly 2lb in some sections, my biggest was about 12oz.
I walked along it with the wife on Monday morning thinking there might be an angler or two fishing, but there was no-one plus we never saw a single fish top. I’m fairly sure that there will be a lot more anglers fishing it in the coming weeks following Sundays match.

Thanks, yes it was awesome, I caught from the first put in to the last. It’s running low at the moment so is only 3ft deep with about 4ft of roach 🙂 I kept saying to myself that this has to slow down as you can’t catch on bread for 5 hours, totally wrong and I could have carried on catching. My biggest mistake was not having enough whip rigs tied up, I tangled both of the rigs I had with me and then had to revert to the pole, but it just wasn’t quick enough. I’m not sure that I could have made up the 8lb difference between me and Wayne but I reckon about another 5lb should have been possible, not including the amount I dropped or bumped 🙁
I did try maggot a few times must missed too many bites and hemp caught the same size fish but took longer for a bite.
