Hi all.
Been fishing the River Severn Classic matches at Shrewsbury and I am struggling with my bolo set up. At the moment my rigs are fished with a bulk ollivette and ususally 3 No. 8 droppers below and then a 30cm hooklength attached via a swivel. Any other shot needed to set the float correctly is placed in a small bulk directly below the ollivette. The ollivette runs freely on the line and is stopped by the small bulk
I have only started fishing the method recently, so I am no doubt making a few mistakes.
My main problem occurs when I cast out, the hookength and dropper shot get into a tangle, usually around the ollivette. Leading to much frustration. I am using an overhead cast to get to the distance comfortably, but even when I feather the line the rig still tangles. It appears that the line below the ollivette is wrapping round the line above the ollivette during the cast and inevitably the hook catches around the ollivette.
If someone can give me some pointers regarding correct shotting patterns and casting technique etc, that would be great.
Tight lines.
